What is Almanac?
Almanac is Minnesota’s longest-running public affairs show.
Since it debuted in 1984, Almanac has been an impactful part of TPT's programming by providing trusted news, thoughtful analysis and a mix of Midwest quirkiness. Almanac has become one of the most respected television offerings in the region.
Almanac On the Road Logo
Challenge
Create a logo to celebrate the Almanac On The Road live show that adheres to TPT and Almanac brand standards and works across web, print and broadcast. Given the show's established presence and loyal, mature audience, the logo must be designed to honor the brand’s legacy with a refined and elegant visual approach.

Typography - Primary

Big John (Almanac's brand font) is used in the logo
to keep it consistent with brand standards
Typography - Secondary

Tiro Tamil is used in the logo as the secondary font
Color Palette
To stay consistent with the established branding, the colors were kept in the original Almanac palette.

Presentation of final concepts
The team was presented with two concepts to choose from.
Concept 1

Pulled in the Almanac logo look to allow for consistency and brand recognition

"Almanac" is kept in primary font to stay consistent with the brand

Used sans serif font "Gotham" for "On the Road" to bring a modern feel and contrast with the blocky style used for "Almanac" ​

Almanac 40th Anniversary Logo
Challenge
Develop a commemorative logo for Almanac’s 40th Anniversary that functions seamlessly across web, print, and broadcast platforms. The logo should follow TPT and Almanac brand guidelines, honor the show’s long-established legacy, and visually complement previous Almanac logos—while introducing a celebratory tone for the milestone.
